Am I a loser if I give up on chess?

Every game I play I get owned badly, and I'm sub 1000 ELO.

It's amazing how bad of a player I can be, but I don't even enjoy the game since I keep on getting killed.

I'm too stupid for it, so I should probably give up on it. But will doing so make me an even bigger loser?

If you're not enjoying it why keep playing? It's just a game, you're not a looser for not being a grandmaster, or giving up

If you're playing it just to win instead of playing for fun (or money) then yes you are a loser.  You should find something else, since there is always going to be someone better than you at chess. Ding Liren is the second best player in the world and there is someone better than him. Actually there is always going to be someone better than you at pretty much anything that you attempt.

If you don’t enjoy it, then maybe you should stop playing, yes.

That said, if you do enjoy it, but you don’t like losing, maybe you should focus on some other aspect of chess? Like, instead of focusing on winning or losing, focusing on improving, or focusing on specific aspects of your game?

Don't despair. The ranking system will adapt and give you matches which you have a 50% chance of winning.

This isn't another one of your totally made up quotes is it?

Because if it is, I have one based on how many times even good chess players resign.

The full quote is:
"Chess is not for the faint-hearted; it absorbs a person entirely. To get to the bottom of this game, he has to give himself up into slavery. Chess is difficult, it demands work, serious reflection and zealous research." - Steinitz
