Nope. It doesnt make any sense. Why arent they rated 1000/1100+?
Anyone else notice 900 to 999 elo players tend to be better than 1000 to 1100 elos?

I think this feeling happens when you lose a bunch of rating points from burnout and it feels like everyone is playing amazing.
I kinda felt that. I went on a loosing streak down to 865. Then I realized I was tired as hell. So went to rest and sleep and came back when the batteries where up.
Yes, around 900 people are as smart as the 1000 but sometimes do wild moves that may look impressive, but remember 1000+ make less errors.

when your playing someone lower rated upthan you you might play worse because you know they are lower rated that you so you feel that you would win. This would make you play worse. On the other hand the lower rated would try harder cause he knows your higher rated than you.

From what I know, some people that I play against are not a typical 1000s, and should be a higher elo than they should be (not by much but by maybe a hundred) and some just play like a 700.
But players that are 1000s are definitely not like those from a couple years back before the hype of chess. (but take it with a grain of salt from a 1150)

I've been noticing another strange thing. A couple of months/years ago I was around 1300's, even got 1400's. Then I started playing while working and lost a lot of games and got down to 1100's.
Now I'm back (sometimes) playing with (some) focus and I'm having trouble getting to 1200 again. In the last weeks I'm facing opponents around 1100 and lower that regularly play on the 1500, 1400 level, according with the reviewer. And It seems true according with my experience. I've been getting my reviewer predicted ratings around that numbers too.
And that didn't happened until a couple of years ago.
I don't know if it's just me but I feel like I usually have easier games against 1000+ elos
