Anyone play CHESSMASTER GRANDMASTER EDITION??

That's about right. The only new material is Waitzkin's Art of Learning tutorial and they improved Konig by a few rating points. The online portion has been revamped as well, but it is still inferior to most online chess sites.
That being said, I still purchased it and upgraded from CM10 (I think I've owned just about every version at this point, going all the way back to the Software Toolworks early editions). CM is still my favorite chess series. Fritz is nice, but nothing beats CM for the casual and club player.
If you get it for Christmas, just be sure to download the latest patch.

I have the 10th edition and i play it almost every 2 days.. I think it is already enough for me... there are many things unlearned by me there.
BTW, did anyone beat the Chessmaster?
I would like to know more about Computer vs Computer or human vs computer in a formal match and how do they give rating to CM. Perhaps someone can post some interesting games here (other than the kasparov one)

Chessmaster is excellent because it includes tutorials, sparring partners, analysis, and a database of games all in one package. Rybka is superior as an anlysis tool. Chessbase is superior as a database tool. Each of these products has their niche.
Dmytro> I wonder why are you playing against computer.
Sometimes playing computers can be useful. For example, when I want to test my understanding of an endgame I use a strong engine like Rybka or a tablebase. When I want to play a bunch of blitz games in a particular opening line, I often pull out Chessmaster.

Bomberro> Chessmaster 10th edition if I buy this version can you play against people with 10th edition or only play against people with the same version?
People with different editions (10th vs 11th) cannot play each other online. There are technical reasons for this, discussed on the CM11 message boards. And yes, folks with both versions were disappointed by this limitation.

If anyone can answer that question then CHEERS!!!

I have beaten Chessmaster using the Muzio Gambit, but I had to use two takebacks because two moves were eventually refuted. I finally found the winning one.

I can only beat the lesser personalities, not the King engine. What I like about the grandmaster edition is the improved winboard engine support. The winboard engines play very well under this interface, but not so well with previous chessmaster versions.

How much better are the Grandmaster edition's tutorials and how many more tutorials are there. SO two questions, one of quality and one of quantity.
Thanks!
Post anything you want to discuss about the game!
