YOU HAVE JUST BEEN ANSWERED!
Anyone use Sigma Chess for Mac?

Yea I have Scid now also.
(I do have windows installed and boot it in vmware fusion... I see how scid holds up for me. I also am trying out the trial of Shredder for the mac as well. I'm obviously a beginner so I'll probably be fine just messing around with scid.)

Yes, ok, when you're done smashing your mac try this:
go to: http://www.mark-weeks.com/chess/v$m$$mix.htm
There you'll find a link that says "pgn zipped files", or something like that. Download the file, then unzip by just double clicking. I then found the files using "finder" and dragged them into a folder on to my desk top that I named "pgn chess files". I then opened sigma chess (lite) and went to the file menu, clicked on "open" and clicked into the collection. Then I got the menu that you were looking for, no problem.

So, I'm not sure how to find the games/collections that you're looking for, but I was able to find lots of free game collections in PGN format that sigma can process. I don't know about doing exactly what you're trying to do because I don't know where to find those kinds of collections. I hope that helps.

Repent of your sins, smash your Mac to smithereens so that Satan may not infect any other souls, and get a PC.
If thine eye offend thee, pluck it out!
PC's blow. I had them exlusively for years, and finally got tired of them working like crap, and being constantly riddled with viruses and spywear. I just got a my first mac, and I'll never get a pc again.
And install windows on a mac? That's like deliberately picking up a chick with a package.
I've installed Sigma Chess on my mac (and also set it up with Stockfish engine.) I've also installed a few large game libraries from the Sigma Chess site.
What I can't seem to do is find a way to start stepping through an opening and then see what others in the database replied with for each move. I'd think there'd be a way to see the number of players in the current db that chose e5 in response to white's e4 open.
Also, supposedly there is a way to view the games in the db but under the collection menu everything is always grayed out. I can never view a screen like this http://www.sigmachess.com/_screenshots/colwin.jpg that is shown on the sigma page.
Maybe there is better software that I should install for the Mac? I don't mind purchasing something (I have CM9000 but the thing sucks - crashes all the time.)
