Are chess streamers cheapening the game?

I will say John Bartholomew and Simon Williams do a stellar job with their youtube. Their hard work and effort show with their subscriber count. I believe John is at 70k while Botez is under 20k. We wamt quality content. Not clickbait trash edited by the same guy so all vids are the same.

Dude, streaming is personal option.
Everyone can stream whatever he/she likes and you can watch whatever you like.
Get it? If not , please read it twice.

Youtube and streaming are two different things.
Streaming is more social, it's just for fun. Sure it can be educational, but usually it's just watching someone play a game and interacting with them and the chat.

Although this Botez person is pretty funny... a wiki page and a FIDE title, but only a 2000 rating.
Oh, that's right, how could I forget that cleavage is a thing.
Jesus ladies, if you want to be treated as equals go after people like this who (apparently) have no self respect.

Most of their youtube videos are just edited streams. This is a prime example of garbage content. https://youtu.be/ekMBvfeR670 Note the banal cliche overdone youtube thumbnail and ridiculous title

This string dogg chap made mildy amusing compilations but when the same amateur editor starts making videos for several channels the content becomes stale and uninspiring. It cheapens the game. But then chess.com appear determined to turn chess into an esport. Lasker would be turning in his grave.

I don't watch. But these people are sponsored by chess.com. They're throwing hundreds of years of tradition down the drain by turning chess into a game for dummies instead of the intellectual.

How is it hurting anything? How was it any better before streaming caught on?
I'd argue the fire chess is catching on streaming services is fantastic for the game. Not only do you get to see the best players in the world play countless games live, it's exposing the game to a wider audience.

Botez and Aman are far from the best players. But that's beside the point. Compare their content to the likes of IM Eric Rosen. Chess.com - to borrow a horse racing reference - are backing donkeys.

They do whatever people will watch. If people want to watch crap, then they'll do crap.
Yeah, they make money off of it, so it makes sense.

I'm talking about chess.com streamers specifically. Nakamura, Botez and chessbrah to name a few. It's all bullet or blitz. No educational content at all. All edited the same way with the same ridiculous thumbnails and clickbait titles. This juvenile content can't be good for the game.
