IIRC some Texas colleges give scholarships to high rated chess players.
You have to actually be good on a national level though... so at least GM.

what about like play good because you can do it for sports but you do not need to be in the NFL or Major team right
For sports too, you have to be good on a national level for colleges to give you money.
Ok, maybe GM is too much. I remember something like they wanted a rating of 2400 or higher.
University of Texas at Dallas gives chess scholarships and Webster as mentioned above. Some tournaments give scholarships to winners (like the upcoming Susan Polgar National open for boys and girls next month in Livermore, CA).
Webster University with Susan Polgar. They give out scholarships to young GMs.
Coming to the Calstate in Santa Clara this weekend?
Check out UMBC, they have a nice chess program from what I hear and will even give you a scholarship if your good enough at chess.
I think this whole game scholarship stuff is ridiculous. Someone gets a full scholarship just for being great at one game, where a student may work his ass off in high school getting good grades and he maybe gets a BS one-third scholarship? what a joke
all of school is a joke. people think life is all abut sitting in desks, going home doing hw, then sitting in desks again. Im applying to nascar
You can make millions just for programming a video game. I agree, the US has a bad education system. Notice how in high school, all they teach is political correctness. Every book in english classes are about some troubled kid, racism, depressing crap, slavery, mental disorders, all negative. the common core was an utter disaster. Ever heard of taking 2 REGENTS EXAMS in the same subject? I had to. 2 for each math class. I would win bets from people not believing this.
With the internet now it's possible to learn anything at your own pace. I think going to college is a complete waste of time in this era. In fact, I believe going to any public school in the U.S. is detrimental in general. The U.S. use to have the best schools in the world but now they're just indoctrination centers. This opinion is from someone who started college 3 years early. You can learn much more on your own if you're disciplined enough to consistently work hard in your studies.
I've been wondering about how amazon and so many places on the internet are causing brick and mortar businesses to fail and why the internet isn't putting brick and mortar schools out of business. A small school with about 200 students was just finished not far from here at a cost of 51 million dollars. It seems to me the agenda or goal of public schools is no longer education. If education were the goal, I can think of a lot better, more efficient ways to learn.
The University of Florida doesn't accept anyone who says "I do good in chess." Florida State maybe.
Heh, yeah.
On the other hand, it may be a good sign. If he's 10 right now, he has plenty of time to get his rating up before college starts
You can make millions just for programming a video game.
Meh, probably not.
Some dumbass CEO makes millions. The people with actual skills make a standard salary.
Like chess.com Erik signs the checks because he went to Stanford business school, but everyone else does the actual work and earns some standard going rate.
how do you know i am young ( you were close i am actually 11)
Doing good means you're like a superhero. The opposite of evil. Good is an adjective or noun.
Doing well means you're satisfactory or accomplished. Well is an adverb.
Most people don't really care, they know what you mean, but @EndgameStudier was just pointing out your title has grammar issues, so if you're talking about going to college you'll need to improve your English. So I was saying maybe not, maybe he's a kid
so if i want to continue chess and maybe do so good that i could go into a college wich college could i try for
