Artwork named checkmate

i don't think anybody could identify it online. They would have to visit the Louvre to see the actual pieces.
Thanks all.. I read that from morphy to fischer studied the artwork.. I read this online. I would have loved to see the piece arangments, to see if this story is true for myself.

Hi Skinnypete58,
Our great great grandfather did an amazing bronze bas relief sculpture in the mid 19th century of that same chess scene painted by Moritz Retzsch! Coming soon is our web site that will feature that sculpture bas relief and lots of background research on the Paul Morphy story including a posting from the Columbia Chess Chronicle showing the position of the chess pieces in the original Retzsch painting. The Morphy story is true. But it did not happen exactly the way it is usually told today by most church pastors. A preliminary web page compliments of a friend until our separate web site is up and functional can be found here. www.checkmate-art.com
Lots more info to come
:)

see the page i have written about checkmate painting for some deeper dive on the topic , there was a chess-master looking at the painting - it was Paul Morphy - if you want more detailed version check the article. also tried to recreate the figures position on the chessboard based on the picture below

what do you all think?
In church today they spoke of a painting named checkmate. The painting was the devil playing faust. The devil has the opponent in checkmate. But some chess master was observing the painting and found it was not checkmate. Does anyone know what master discovered this? Also would love to see the piece arrangement? The painting I saw online had pieces that were unfamiliar to me. Thanks for any comments.
