1850 correspondence rating on chess.com and 1850 in FIDE/USCF is totally different...

AdamH1999

Correspondance rating doesn't mean much if you're playing OTB tournaments. Playing a game where you have days to move is much different to playing a live or OTB game, for example, my latest live game was against a 1400 rated player, who was rated 2190 in Online Chess. Even though my live rating is only roughly 1250 at the moment, I still managed to squeeze a win Laughing

average shogi rating?

1850 for ONLINE chess is probably about average, if 1850 was your BLITZ rating that would be well above average, if 1850 was your STANDARD rating than you are likely a master.

This. Back when I was a Class A player (OTB), I used to think I was pretty good. But the more you learn, the more you realize just how large the gap is between your own level of play and Grandmaster level.

Hate being called a bad chess player despite being 1850, huh?  Quit hanging out with 2500 or 2600 rated players then

I'm way below average then. My elo is only 742, and my Go rating is even worse. frustrated.png

Ratings are deflated because weaker players that are below 100 don't even play online chess. The online chess pool consists of the top 4 percent of the players. Players without rating (below 100) are in the bottom 96 percent.
