Correspondance rating doesn't mean much if you're playing OTB tournaments. Playing a game where you have days to move is much different to playing a live or OTB game, for example, my latest live game was against a 1400 rated player, who was rated 2190 in Online Chess. Even though my live rating is only roughly 1250 at the moment, I still managed to squeeze a win
