I am in a pickle with that Question.
Don't know why, but I actually chuckled.
I almost always listen to music while playing, although the type of music varies a whole lot. Recently I played some chess with a friend OTB while listening to a CD of some Spanish classical guitar stuff that he had and it made everything seem really intense. I've got to ask him what CD that was...
When i am a little hyper i'd listen classical music but when i am kinda tired i'd rather listen psychedelic music.
I usually have something like the Pixies or Placebo on... if I'm attacking.
I often use the Chess musical soundtrack as a background for full length games with my friends. It usually synches up freakishly well. 'Nobody's Side' starts playing just at the tensest moment in the middlegame.
on saturday whilst playing chess I was listening to the live fooball scores come through on the radio, I also had the grand prix qualifying on the telly in the background. I then had my local football teams website tabbed because they get live updates on their web site from twitter and this is the only way to follow them when they are playing away from home. This sort of multi-tasking generally happens on a Saturday when I am not at a football match.
Do you prefer playing any background music when playing chess? If so, what kind do you enjoy playing?
I play either the Stones or any Reggae music.
