With the hard work FM is achievable, good luck.
Becoming FM from age 24-25

you are now a strong player with more maturity and have a realistic goal. the time you plan to spend on chess weekly if you can mantain it is also pretty good. 5 hours a day for 5 days a week is actually feasible if other things in life dont get in the way and are passionate about the game.
i do think you should try to go to more than 8 chess events a year though. at least one solid event a month should do.
"I have now lot of memory, thats why I have a huge complex repertoire."
++ That is just ballast. How is your endgame, especially rook endings?
"The problem was that I left chess 3-4 times because I was too infantile and discouraged tons of times for bad games." ++ You are now more mature, but the same psychological obstacle may still hinder you in a new way. How do you handle losses and disappointment now?
"I have a 2400 coach and we train 4-5 hours per week" ++ FM = 2300 so a 2400 coach is not strong enough. Better buy a book by a 2700 grandmaster.
Wait... having a good memory is really helpful in openings, it doesn't mean I memorize without understanding. Good memory is required to semplify. My Rook endgames are nice (I consider 2000 at this level). This year I participated some tournaments I lost 9 games out of 26 (I lost against 2 GMs, 2 IMs, 1 FM and 4 CMs). Against a GM i was +3.5 but lost for zeitnot, so I was also happy for that but little angry. I also won and drew against 2 Fide Masters and some 2200+ players. In other side I lost against some 2000-2100 players. I drew but never lost against 1900-2000 players. So I was angry for some games when I lost won positions but continued to play and didnt disappoint so much. So, in comparison with the past, I improved a lot.
For now I'm 2000 and also not that old, so I can opt for 2100-2200 and it's not important the level of the coach. He's perfect at coaching and there is a lot of comaptibility. I know lot of 2600+ get prepared by lower rated people. It's also important to share ideas, especially when someone has more than you. Also I have strong material from top GMs and I have read the most important books like Dvorevsky, Suba, Lisystin etc
Analyse your 9 lost games. What mistakes did you make? Why? Did you consider the good move? Why did you reject the good move? How much time did you spend on your mistake? How much time did you have available? Why did you get into Zeitnot? What move did you cost most time?
I made mistake about forcing moves or to not concretize the opening advantage. I spent an enough amount of time for them. Sometimes the best move didnt come into mind, other times it was in my ideas but didnt do. I got in zeitnot in complex games when im often positional better (+2 or +5) but its hard to concretize that advantage. The moves that cost lot of time are often the bad ones. I reflected on all of that
Updates after 1 year:
I now work as a chess coach in schools and I have some good students which someone is good to train with too. My fide rating now increased a lot and new tournaments are coming soon. I train everydaya at least 2-3 hours per day. I felt improved so much especially in openings, tactic and endgames a lot
Hi all, I'm now a 24 yo guy with 2000 fide that started
playing since 6. I became 1800 fide at age 14 (when
there wasn't K40, but k15 sadly). The problem
was that I left chess 3-4 times because I was too infantile
and discouraged tons of times for bad games. At 20 I continued
and after 1-2 years i got 2000. After losing some elo points
I came back to 2000 again. This year I'm going for 25 years.
I have a 2400 coach and we train 4-5 hours per week and
the plan is to keep this training for years (now its 3 months).
I have now lot of memory, thats why I have a huge complex repertoire.
I have lot of free time and I study chess about 25 hours per week.
I'm taking it seriously since now its also a little job. I'm going
to do 7-8 tournaments this year. My coach says I'm on time for
becoming Fide Master. Now im not a kid and if lose I dont get
discouraged so much. But I think I'm too old to get FM actually.
I'm sure that I can try for 2200. What are your thoughts? Some
others or your experience about this? Thank you
