I would aim for ~1000 as a beginner and ~1500 when you been playing for a year.
Beginner rating

blitz 1150 and standard 1350.
your growing out of the word beginner mate. as you near the chess.com average- you can't consider yourself a beginner.
of course, there is always someone you an compare yourself to make your accomplishments feel small. but ... the point here is that at that rating-
if you go play any one of zillions of novice players (at least in my area) you would totally beat the heck of them.

agree with Harmbtn though. chess is about enjoyment and bettering yourself.
Ratings are funny things. they are VERY specific to where you play.
if you get a good high blitz rating and go to a chess tourny to put a whoppn' on the beginners. you might be dissapointed.
I'm a beginner and very humble about my overall chess ability - going to a real chess club and playing OTB games really taught me how difficult and complex chess is. I was obsessed with ratings, too, when I started playing about 10 months ago, but I have gotten realistic.
I have gotten better and know a lot more about chess than I did, even if putting that knowledge to use during a game sometimes escapes me.
I need to learn to relax during games.
I did play in my first online tournament, for players rated <1200, and won 2 out of 5 games, though, coming in 12th. That made me feel good, even though I won one of them on time.

you should play standard bopgirl, it will help you in tournaments- G30 or G45 is a lot more like a tournament game than G5 or G10.
IMHO when you have humble rating- you need time to try to overcome your blunders and mistakes.
any part of the point of ratings is to look for improvement- and I think you've done really well.
I have only been playing chess for about a month now. I want to know if I'm below/above average and also what is a good rating to aim for?
