in this position ra4 is a brilliant move because the rook cannot take the pawn because its pinned and after the rook takes the white rook then you promote to a queen

Here's one I pulled off in an otherwise very poor game on my part.

Edit: There was actually no pawn on the h-file. Also, I misplaced the pieces; they should all be one rank lower. But it still stands as it is.

In this move, when the knight tries to come to the queen, the piece gives itself to the brilliant and the queen quickly checks it.

so to see the brilliant move u have to see hmm if that knight wasnt there i couldve checkmated him so if you move the knight anywhere and threaten checkmate they can simply block checkmate but since your knight can give a check they are forced to respond to the check and so they take or move the king and get checkmated. thats why u always look for forcing moves. (checks, captures, threats)
