So everybody gets into a slump sometime or another. What do all of you do to get out of a slump? Do you take time off, just keep playing, or something else?

best way to get out of a slump is to win the next game.

When I say slump I mean when somebody is playing great one moment then starts to lose a bunch of games and can't seem to win.

I would suggest two things.

First, start going over your losing games. Try to figure out what the critical position was and where you went wrong. BTW this is a good idea with all your games both winning or losing. This self analysis is a very good way to improve your game.

Second: after you start analyzing your games you should start to see a pattern in mistakes in games. Find some books or software addressing your problems. There are lots of opening books or software. For middle games I would suggest Max Euwe books on the middle game. For endgame I would recommend Lev Alberts book "Endgames, Just the Facts".  Good luck!
