I've been on chess.com for a long time and I remember billwall who was a wonderful gentleman. I see, fairly recently it would appear, that his account was closed. Does anyone know what happened to him? I only ask because he seemed like an A-class guy and I hope nothing terrible has happened to him or something.

He seems to have an active Twitter account.

Bill Wall closed his original account (he was one of chess.com's very first members and contributed greatly to the content here) and later rejoined as @minichess.

Yes! it was rough when i first started here. guys would find themselves losing, and instead of resigning they would let the clock run out.  i also had a few that upon winning would send me the laughing emoji

previous webmaster could no loner support my old page, so a new one was created. Lots of articles, chess trivia, world championship games, and latest chess news.

Bill, thanks! May I ask you a question? Do people buy chess e-books nowadays?

Alfred,

Of my own 37 chess books on Amazon that I have written, 25% are my Kindle chess e-books that have been purchased vs the paperback books. Lots of free chess e-books at archive.org, including some of my older books. Most e-books on archive.org are in pdf format, but there are other formats that can be downloaded. 10% of my own chess books are both paperback or hardback and e-book in pdf format. I still prefer buying the paperback chess books. I think I have 6,000 chess books and 3,000 e-books in my library. One removable hard drive has all my e-books on it.

Catholicbatman,

I am always active and here almost every day. I give a few lessons or comment on some of the players games and add some of my short games to the site. I play lots of chess online and have played and recorded over 73,000 games i have played since 1969 to 2025. All my games up to 2025 are free at archive.org in pgn format. I try to write a chess trivia article every week and post them on my chess archive page. Also, I keep up with the news and write other interesting chess articles when I can.
