My coach told me to take a break for 2 days because I have a real lovely case of "blunderitis" lol. I tilted 120 whole points and was doing utterly stupid things like letting a bishop and queen converge on me. Just too mentally tired.

I'm getting really bored not playing though. Can someone tell me some fun anecdotes or something? Did something interesting happen at a chess tournament you played in? Did you pull off a nice brilliancy? Tell me about it because I'm bored out of my mohawked head

Your posts are always the best grin.png And if you like birds, I feel like a mohawk is very fitting
Let me copy and paste a funny story from @paper_llama from here

"The funniest trash talking event that happened to me was my opponent missed a simple tactic and lost, and started cursing and ranting about I'm so lucky and I'm a terrible player and they'd beat me in a rematch but I'm too much of a coward to give them a rematch etc etc.

I'm not even typing anything, they're just ranting, so anyway, I start thinking it's funny, so I accept the rematch... and I don't even expect this to work, I just thought it'd be funny to say "after all that talk it'd be really embarrassing if you lost this game too"

The first game I was lucky they missed a tactic, but the 2nd game, I guess that got in their head, because they played much worse than their rating and lost again grin.png"

Sometimes when I am not in a good place to play for whatever reason i like doing puzzles, dunno if that works for you.

First of all, sorry to hear about your burnout/blunder-itis.

Here is an anecdote from a time I lost a lot of rating too and how I recovered from it eventually:

While you are taking a break from chess (and bored), you might like watching memes. That is what I do and laughter is the best medicine happy.png

Sometimes I just watch Memesso on YouTube and after several videos, then I feel better happy.png

Thanks. Your post helped with perspective. I tend to get a bit overly upset about small rating drops. I know other people have tilted far more than 120 points. I did win 50 of those back but I'm trying to be self disciplined and follow my coach's directions so I'm forcing myself to take that 2 day break now.

Mother of God. And I thought that Polish player throwing himself out of his seat was bad. I have no words lololol

Ooh nice maneuver with the bishop and queen!

Update: I seem to have recovered. 639. Not far off my peak of 674.

654 now. Might actually take another day's break though to get over any remaining mental fatigue. I have a lesson on Saturday and my coach wants to see how much I've improved at openings.

I'm firing on all 4 cylinders again but I'm mildly annoyed with myself for missing a queen pin. Still won handily but I hate missing those so maybe a bit more rest after today's binge-playing is needed.
