Blindfold Chess (a new podcast)

I wanted something to help improve my board visualisation skills and to memorise classic games so I started making audio recordings of game annotation. I would listen to them and mentally review the game while I was on my way to work, doing errands, etc. I found it very hard at first but I spent some time with the coordinates trainer elsewhere and that helped a lot. There is a real shortage of this sort of "blindfold" audio material so I've decided to start publishing the recordings as a podcast. If you're looking to fit in some chess study time on-the-go, check it out. It's free and there are no ads. You should be able to find it in whatever podcast app you use.... If not, here is the feed URL (blindfold-chess.castos.com/feed) and the hosting website (blindfold-chess.castos.com/). Would really appreciate hearing any feedback you folks have.

Really nice idea. I'll check it out as soon as I have time. Playing blindfold is a good habit. What kind of games are you planning to mainly cover, old classics or recent masterpieces?

Does “d” and “g” really sound like “e” on this podcast to anyone else. In a recent game, blacks opening move was “g6” and I kept re-listening, but it sounded exactly like “e6”

If I didn't know it was possible to play blindfold chess, I wouldn't believe it.  One game - maybe. Two games - unlikely.   8+ games - ridiculous. Yet elite GM's can do it.

I wonder if Magnus ever forgets where he left his car keys.

Can you remember the plot of a 2 hour movie after you watch it? Of course, and it's not even hard.

Playing blindfold is like that... the stronger your opponent, the easier it is to remember. Carlsen has given a few blindfold simuls. In one of them his beginner-level opponent made a lot of dumb moves and Carlsen couldn't remember the position in that game.

(by the way this was a clock simul, so he was playing 5 blitz games blindfolded, which is significantly harder than untimed I imagine)

This is such a great idea! But when I follow the link it tells me the podcast isn't available anymore. Is it still available somewhere? happy.png
