Here's the game :
opponents CAPS score was a ridiculous 99.something...And he resigned! In an unclear position with lots of play left
Basically you're astonished at the fact that this opponent has some fascination with a particular variation?
I'm astonished at the fact that he played the best moves for 20 moves straight using only 2 mins of his clock. In a variant with many difficult tactical branches. Ridiculously high CAPS and "he played" most of the game matching engines top choice to 100 percent. Of course, I wouldn't claim he used an opening book or database during the game, as such claims are not allowed on the General Forum
Play it accidentally my @ss! If you're rated 2200+ you might play it accidentally but not when you're patzervilling at 1600, and TO REPEAT MYSELF, he matched the engines top score to 100% during most of the game, save the last few moves.
Why? I'm not accusing said opponent of anything, I have just stated he must have a very good memory + a computerish style of play. Goes for Hikaru aswell
Your choice of subject line "booked up opponents" suggests that your premise was that your opponent booked up on an obscure line. Since people do pursue odd interests like this, I find that premise plausible enough.
Some of your subsequent comments suggest that you may have actually had a different agenda with the post. If so, and even if you're right about what happened, I'm not sure that bringing it here is all that productive.
Besides, your opponent resigned. The idea that they tried something obscure, concluded that they didn't know how to follow up, and resigned, just doesn't seem that alarming or something to be troubled by.
Anything you think my posts suggest are a figment of YOUR reasoning, not mine, IMO
I don't question your reasoning, which I'm sure functions just fine.
My advice would be play 30 minute rapid instead. In my experience there are fewer "booked up" opponents here than in the 15/10 pool. Or just play your rapid on Lichess. Not only are there a lot fewer "booked up" opponents, if you lose to one of them they refund your points.
That other site will refund lost points if their team has looked into an opponent's games and are pretty sure the opponent was (cough, cough) "booked up".
I'm sorry, but this absolutely ridiculous:
(1) You're blaming your opponent for knowing 20 moves of theory - when your opponent may wonder why you know so much about the Alekhine..? *The game of chess doesn't revolve around you*.
(2) The final position is completely lost for white if white doesn't see the one move Nd5 - not at all unclear. I wouldn't have resigned, but it's at least understandable. So your opponent lost the game in less than 30 moves against you.
(3) You won the game! What are you even complaining about...?
So my recent 15/10 game against a 1628, user name [public accusations not allowed -- MOD]. This guy playing white, unloads
20 consecutive opening theory moves as white in a side-variation of the Alekhine that nobody can possibly have prepared and memorized as white that perfectly. Sole reason for playing the Alekhine as black is that nobody knows what the best line is against it, titled players have told me that much. As white you don't prepare 20 move deep theory against a seldom played variant in a seldom played opening. This guy [removed -- MOD] must have better memory than Carlsen !!!
