Brilliant move gone

I did a knight sacrifice in one of my games, which stockfish evaluated as brilliant when analyzing the game, but when I next looked at it a few minutes later the move was downgraded to a best move, has this ever happened to you? I'm unsure if this is a bug, or just something the engine does sometimes.

A move marked as brilliant at one depth may not still be classified as that a different depth  so it's possible it was reran at higher depth

LeberwurstLover

It said depth 18 both times, so unless there's a hidden depth which I don't know of, I don't think that's the reason

Does anyone know how to get the move back? This happened to me as well, it was my first brilliant move and I super excited to show my friends but the second I showed them it changed to “the best move”.

Chess_CoReal

I sacrificed my bishop in a game, and I won and got a brilliant move. A few weeks later, I checked that game and it was downgraded to a best move. Can anyone help?

It can depend on review strength and it's also possible that the algorithm was updated between the checks

GOJIPRIME

Honestly speaking I have actually made a brilliant move in a game but it was changed into a great move the depth was the same I am sure of it but it's not changing after several times

True... The checks were over a ling period of time

happycastling

it's happened to me too, a brilliant turned into an inaccuracy next time I reviewed the game... hmm

KnightyKnightSki

That happened to me too today, can someone fromm chess.com answer this..

So, yesterday I finished a game with 2 brilliant moves (and, considered my elo, I was really proud of it) but I couldn’t review the match, so I waited today and I found out that one of my brilliant moves was canceled. Can someone tell me why tf this is not a brilliant (or at least a great move)??? How can I get it back? Considering that the computer suggests a pretty bad move….

The post game quick analysis is very low strength so will almost never match a full review.

The engine likes Nxc2 more and evaluates it almost a pawn better, so your move is considered inaccurate. Still good though.

Creeperbot33

erm, yea I don't see why the computer says the that's a inaccuracy, as it get s the queen. my bet is the move the computer suggested was a way to get the queen without losing the rook as well. I may be wrong though

Inaccuracy just means there was a better move on the board, by a certain evaluation difference, not that a given move was bad.
