♟Ever sacrificed a piece or a dream for the bigger game?

Hi, I’m Rithunandan R, a Clinical Psychology postgraduate from Christ University — and a fellow chess player. I’m conducting research on the real experiences of Indian chess players who’ve had to navigate tough choices between chess and academics or career paths.

Whether you are:

1. Currently balancing chess with academics or work
2. Had to give up chess to focus on studies or career
3. Put academics/career on hold to pursue chess more seriously

— your journey matters.

I’m looking for participants who:
✅ Are 18–29 years old
✅ Have a FIDE/standard Elo rating between 1700–2400
✅ Have 5+ years of competitive chess experience
✅ Have played at state level or higher
✅ Have faced a conflict between chess and academics or career

This study involves confidential one-on-one online interviews, where your story will be deeply valued and respected.

Let’s put your journey into words — and help others understand what it truly means to play life and chess at once.

If you’d like to share your journey, fill out this short 2-page form: https://forms.gle/KvvzobMoDSeu2rFB7
