Do you mean can an iPhone app user play an Android app user? Why not?

I'm new to the app.  I asked a friend to play. He has an Android and told me we couldn't.  That's why I asked the community. I guess you've answered my question. Thanks.

Even though it ends with a question mark, the answer is right.

Same question: my friend’s android phone shows a slightly different opening screen than my iPhone. When he plays the computer, the game board with “Jimmy” starts immediately. On my iPhone, I have 2 intervening screens (1st screen allows me to play against chess ‘avatars’ of different levels; 2nd screen allows me to choose the level of ‘help’ I want) that comes on before the game board screen comes on. Additionally, when he plays against the computer using his Android phone, he has to hit the ‘Hint’ button before each of his moves, while my iPhone shows various ‘Hints’ automatically. When my friend tries to accept my ‘challenge link,’ he gets an error message, ‘Can not connect to server.’ ANY SUGGESTIONS are welcomed and appreciated!

chess isn't so similar to other apps. I'm pretty sure you can play cross-platform, since I've played on my mac against my friend who plays on the app.

Vielen Dank, B1ZMARK: are you using the ‘free’ version of the chess.com app on your Mac? Was there any setup needed by your friend, or between the two of you to be able to play?

you can't download the chess app on a computer. On computer or PC, the website is used. And to be honest, it's much better than the app.
