Can I get a chess title for blitz chess?

I recently played an OTB blitz tournament at one of my local USCF clubs. The time control was 10+0 and after the tournament was over, it showed my blitz rating on the USCF website. COuld someone gain a chess title if they played only blitz tournaments and not classical games?

No. Titles are awarded solely for classical time controls.

FIDE offers online arena titles. These are very different from the open and women's titles for OTB games with classical time controls.

FIDE Online Arena (FOA) titles (AGM, AIM, AFM, ACM) are for online games with bullet, blitz and rapid time controls. These are designed for lower rated players.

Blitz and rapid games do not count toward titles.

I think that the FIDE Online Arena titles are generally looked upon as not being worth the paper that you have to pay to have them printed on.

I've heard mixed reviews, nonetheless, they are titles from FIDE. I think they serve a purpose very different from FIDE's classic titles.

  • FIDE title for bullet, blitz and rapid
  • Intended for lower rated players
  • May provide validation or recognition for players that may not wish to seek classic titles
  • Does not require norms, and thus does not have the same cost for traveling as classic titles
  • Might be a good motivation or stepping stone for aspiring chess players to pursue classic titles
  • May not grant you special privileges when participating in other tournaments

FIDE Titles will be awarded if you ONLY playing Classical Time Controls, being win on a Junior Championship can be way to get titles, most likely you will get CM, then FM, IM, GM, for a NM, it only award it by local Chess Organization in your country where rules are different, in USCF you need 2200 to be a NM, this is also include ECF where you need 2200 to get NM title,

I meant like a OTB title, that could be granted from you reaching a certain fide rating that isn't classical but instead rapid or blitz.

From what I have heard, a lot of people want to move away from classical chess OTB towards faster time controls, so this could be interestingi n my opinion.
