Can i turn off the checkmate sound?

Hi guys,

Something that really p*sses me off is the checkmate sound.... i don't want to turn off all sounds but the checkmate sound almost seems as if it's intended to p*ss the losing player off, just by how loud and sudden it happens, especially when it's unexpected.

I lose more than i win, so it's not so much the losing that annoys me, it's just how you can be in deep thought and then *BONK* .... it's startling, and has turned an 'oh well' loss into a mini rage on many occasions.... i don't need startling BS when i'm trying to concentrate and enjoy myself....

Anyone else get annoyed by that? Or know if i can turn it off?

Thanks.

Yes you can. Go to settings and then board. There you can turn off sound and haptic feedback but it also removes all other sounds when playing like moving a piece.

This is the only way to turn it off I think as there is no settings for audio unless for the ones I mentioned( at least on mobile)

You said that the checkmate sound is very annoying because you often lose so I looked at your last game and I noticed that you did play pretty fast( when the game ended you had gained 1 min compared to your opponent who had used 10 sec) so try taking it slow and look for ways your opponent can checkmate you. For example in the game you unfortunately blundered back rank mate. What you could have done is notice that he could checkmate you and prevent it. Getting better at this is probably really useful because it gives you a bigger chance to win the game. Sorry for the long text

If the Checkmate sound is catching you by surprise then you need to think for longer on your moves.

To reiterate the point: I just checked your last match. You started with 15 mins and ended with over 16 mins and got caught by surprise by a back rank Checkmate.

I can appreciate that you don't want helpful advice but I assure you that I am being helpful.

I'm sure you meant well, but there is always people who will ignore the question to give their advice on playing lol

My learning curve is slow, and has gone up and down, i'm a hack....
