Can pawn's take out a king?

My teacher says that they can't but in videos they say they can so can you help me out here?

pawn's can't take out a King - neither can p'awns, pa'wns, paw'ns, pawns' or 'pawns.

Of course a pawn can deliver a mate (if that's what you mean by "take out"). It's uncommon but it definitely happens. Just one example:
