Find someone who will play an unrated game with you. Then set up that exact situation and see if the system let's you castle.

if its pinned yes but if not, castling is a illegal move

No, pinned pieces still attack squares so castling would not be possible.

Aredtyg

If you mean pinned by something to this effect, then no

Beth_Harmon003

ok, thank you

I don’t think so...

just something relevant to keep in mind relating to this topic.

the behaviour of chess pieces are different when there are interactions with the king, compared to the rest of the pieces. Always remember this.

For example if a rook is attacked by a bishop it can still give check to the king. In a way think of things like this as threats and attacks that involve the king have to be eliminated first before progress can be made. In the earlier mentioned example of a rook being attacked by a bishop but still giving check to the king, u can't castle the king when its in check, despite having the bishop attacking the rook. However if u take the rook with the bishop then u can castle on ur next move, provided its available. Now if u set up an unrealistic scenario where say the queen is being attacked by the rook and she wants to "castle" she can, because she's not the king, without having to take the rook first.

If she tried to do it, she'd be Harmon her chances.

Pinning is irrelevant. The rule simply states that the king can’t be in check or move through a square that is checked. You are not in check if a piece is pinned.

If a piece is pinned it can and does still deliver check. But you're right, pinning is irrelevant

There's an analysis option (learn->) analysis that you can play the scenario out on yourself. You can set up the board and attempt it there.

Think of the rules this way: first to capture opponent's king wins. The pinned bishop takes White king first; rook takes Black king *after*.

Thank you all very much, huge help...

I haven't tried this in my chess life

PranavBobbySekhar

Pinning the squares in between the castling pieces is also a dominant move...depends on situation. One might wanna limit the king's movement by pinning the castle in order to put pressure on center.
