I'm getting better at it 
Really it depends on the game and the move though. Sometimes it's quite obvious what they're doing and other times I cannot understand something for a long time.
I recommend annotated games if you want to understand them.
On youtube ChessExplained, KingsCrusher, and ChessNetwork have some nice videos with top level games.
