Candidate master title

Can a person get a title of CM and FM by only playing games in his country or how many countries should he go to play for it ?
You can get GM by only playing Games in ypur country, depending on which country that is. Ex: the US, Russia, Ukraine, India is possible

FIDE titles have no requirements on what country they are played in. For GM and IM (including women's titles) there are requirements for a minimum of players from 2 other federations, other than the player's, in order to receive norms.
CM and FM are only rating based.

Yes, what I meant is that you most likely wouldnt be able to get GM or IM solely by playing tournaments in some of the smaller countries, as theres not enough strong players and events. Even in big countries, that reality has been true, you wont see an IM or GM who solely did it by playing in Canada or Australia, for example, its insanely rare/non-existent

@ChessLebaneseSalah, that would be true, unless organizers invited players to meet the requirements.
In the US there are organizations doing just that in bigger cities, holding norm events.

Seems like the title "Master" is given out too liberally. CM's chess.com ratings haven't reflected the skill that warrants the title "Master", in my experience playing against them on this site.

#10 that's what happens when you judge masters from their online blitz and rapid. Play them OTB in classical, and you will see how you get crushed. Obviously some are weaker than the others but most of them are quite good.

#11: Hi, @rupam44 , I'm not denying that they're "quite good." The title "master", however, should be reserved for those who have achieved the highest level of proficiency in the game. Whether it's over the board or not, I don't think there should be any format in which I (who has only played seriously on or off for 4-5 years) should be able to beat a "master." Some of the CMs I have played are good, but hardly seem to be "masters." Whether the game is over the board or online should not make that much of a difference in the 21st century, where many chess players play both formats frequently.
I suppose if one wants to use the term master to refer more the "trade-context" of a master (apprentice, journeyman, master), then it could make sense—thinking of a master as someone who has reached a level where they are training chess players. For me personally, the term master used to have an aura of mystery and reverence. Now, with all the lower-level master titles, that feeling is watered down. If anything, it's just funny to review a game where I, LoukasLusha, have beaten a master: I don't think I deserve that at all haha.

CM is not a master title. CM is just a candidate to become a master. The lowest master title is FM (or NM, that is given by national organizations).

Yeah, the regulations are mostly set up with Europeans in mind.
Since they can easily travel across multiple countries in a single day they can hold small local tournaments and pretend they're "internatoinal."
"I got on a train for 30 minutes, look at me, I'm an international player"
- Some European, probably
"B**** I drive 30 minutes to eat at a McDonalds."
- An American
Lol your post made me laugh. But hey, I have to drive 20 hours just to reach a different province in Canada!

CM is an official FIDE title and recognized by the site.

Yeah that’s true a friend from the Netherlands says theyhave/are stronger players than the players from other countries with the same elo therefore making events harder and that players go outside their regions/country to have easier events. lol

#19 same here in some regions of India. I am a 1100 in my region (which is still a bit low I should be around 1300) but I can easily beat some random 1900 dude from any other country. This is because the players in my region study a lot and there's a tough competition. I barely make it to the top 20 in a tournament. However, if I play outside where chess is easier, for example Bangladesh or Siberia, I can easily reach quite high like 1900+

Yes, it is possible, if the country brings some tournaments with certain fide characteristics, there you can obtain them as the subzonal ones or that reach the elo to grant you the title
