Yes, I'm having the same problem. It worked fine until yesterday. Now it won't start. Deleted, reinstalled, updated iOS, deleted, reinstalled again, turned off and on several times, and it won't start. Immediately crashes. iPad mini 2 (yes, it's a little old), iOS version 12.5.7 .
can't open app on Ipad

Gilangilan, thank you!
I have the same version as you. Now I think I am just going to have to buy a new Ipad. I kind-of give up. My other games are fine: backgammon, gin rummy, spades. I'll try calling Apple, but they probably don't deal with a 3rd-party game.
I also have the iPad mini 2 running iOS version 12.5.7 with the same issue where it crashes immediately on starting the app.
The version previous to this that was working, which came out just 3 weeks ago, says they fixed some issues specific to iOS 12, so would be odd to now break compatibility with the older OS in the most recent release.

Same problem, same attempts at recovery all without success. Working fine this afternoon but not this evening. In my case I use an iPad Air (1st gen). Yes its old but functions perfectly for everything else I use it for.

I tried to play this past Saturday on my iPad and it would not open. Was working fine Friday so not sure what’s going on. Did all the troubleshooting and even contacted Apple. Still not able to play on iPad but can play on my iPhone.

Gilangilan, I tried to open my chess.com (3/8/23, 12:52 california time and the screen still goes to black right away. What is this new version? judy

It's back with me as of this morning. Although for the last three or four months on my 1st gen Ipad Air a lot of the functionality is no longer available eg tournaments. I know I'll have to upgrade at some stage

yahoodee, I had to go to the App Store app and install the latest upgrade for the chess.com app. It worked today (March 8).

Garasku, remember, you have to delete the program and reinstall it; they will have you give a new password also (I reentered my old one and that worked fine).
hope this helps. judy
I had such problem too! But after reading several excellent articles such as https://setapp.com/how-to/screenshot-on-mac I understood why I was getting an error and solved it myself. In general, I believe that such online services are necessary to increase your intellectual level. After all, we deal with a variety of devices every day, so it is very important to be able to handle them.
app button shows on screen, but when I press to open it tries to open but does not open (the screen blinks). If I look at other apps opened (for example backgammon the game opens), chess shows up as a black square and disappears??? I have deleted and reinstalled, and I have done a reset on my Ipad and I have turned my Ipad on and off.
