The way that most of these Carlsen/Anand/whoever threads develop into personal mudslinging matches after a few posts never ceases to amaze me. I always thought Chess was a game for people with a certain basic intelligence and education.

Intelligence and education have nothing to do with decency and common sense.

Chess...the game for the intelligent and educated...LOL Innocent

Carlsen's two losses in a row just proves to his opponents that he is after all only human. His last lost was 6 months ago, and his last two-in-a-row since 2010? Anand must be exhaling now...yes he bleeds like everyone else. Is it really because of his illness or something else? Who knows. One thing for sure, his losses here will offer some comfort for Anand, and much needed confidence.

After browsing through my FIRST ever glimpse of chess.com chats, I am happy to find that the comments are even more vitriolic and petty than YouTube, my favorite channel ever.  Thank you.

Magnus Carlsen is like the Daigo Umehara and the Justin Wong. Even they can be beaten every once in a while, but they will always have more wins than losses...

It's like saying. Oh no, Manny Pacquiao lost 2 matches or the Seahawks lost 2 or more games in the 2013-2014 season. Always remember that it doesn't matter how you start or what happens during; it always matters how you finish!

I like this quote and I think it applies here:

“One doesn't have to play well, it's enough to play better than your opponent” - Siegbert Tarrasch

to be honest, carlsen just made two huge blunders otherwise he would at least draw against his two last matches. It can happen to all of us!

He certainly blundered against Caruana, but I don't see any huge blunder against Radjabov, he was just slowly outplayed.

What tournament did Grischuk play in?

Russian Team Championship

Carlsen bursts out of the melting armour and gives Vishy a knockout blow!

Dudido111: I hope they're not going to put the acid on his skin once they're done with the shield! That would be a bit cruel I would think? Or would you take pleasure in that?

Carlsen proved he is human in 2013 Candidates when he lost 2 games out of last 3 at the very crucial stage. Its not about Carlsen but rather Anand, that how he prepares, so that we could witness some exciting chess. I have noticed a trend that we tend to take current top players as less competent than the past masters. But in this era of live chess games available for viewing on internet. It is difficult to create an aura of mystique.

The thing which worries me is that Carlsen tried to play a different sort of style in last 3 games. Is he experimenting with novel ideas?

On the plus side, given the psychology going on (e.g. Anand celebrating Magnus's losses), and Anand's recent performance, the upcoming title match will hopefully be much more interesting.

Teimour Radjabov is great player in the King's Indian Defence and he said before game , "Magnus for him is ordinary player" and he is not afraid him

The thing about Magnus Carlsen is his name - it's pretty cool. I mean - Magnus; it's like the name one would expect of a super villian in the latest Avengers movie or something. Awesome name!

When was Anand celebrating Magnus' loss? Provide a link, please.

Elubas

Everyone would be deep down happy to see something like that happen to their rival -- I know I would :)

You get to be reminded of their vulnerability, which surely can get rid of some depressed emotions? There's no shame in that as long as you're not an ass about it.

Does "being happy deep down at some level' equals 'celebration'? Surely, one is a state of mind, while the other is superficially done to display that happiness.

Senator-Blutarsky

Try not to think too much, it spoils the experience.

Shivsky

Anand never celebrated Carlsen's recent losses as far as I know.  That "this result is like oxygen" quote + link posted earlier refers to his win at the Candidates in Khanty.
