Castling in Chess 960

Hi all,

I'm playing the game of Chess 960 below and am trying to castle kingside, but I don't seem to be able to. Can anyone shed any light on this please?

Castling in Chess960 is hit and miss sometimes. I pickup the king and then drag it to the square that the rook is on. If it's highlights green, then it's allowed and will swap pieces upon release.

If it doesn't turn green, then no bueno. Castling across check is not allowed. And no pieces can be in between the king and castling rook as in regular chess.

There are some extra rare things to consider as well, as some pieces might be in the way on the back rank even if they aren't in between. There is an entire chapter devoted to Chess960 castling and the rules associated in a book I read, and I still couldn't understand it.

It's one of the major drawbacks of the game. It should be referenced on a separate line, Rank 0, below the board to help.

I've also run across games where it just plainly didn't work at all while my opponent castled with a similar back rank. The game has glitches galore. But chess.com will add more silly chess clash of the clans games before actually fixing any errors in their system.

I sometimes can't castle in game, Idk why I doesn't let me even if there's no pieces in the way, no opponent pieces controlling the castle squares, king and rook has not moved and all the other important things for castelling. I think it's a big in the system.

*sigh* the king must go to g1

the rook must go to f1

it isnt hit or miss, and it isnt an error, and it isnt random, and it isnt that hard

that bishop and knight there are blocking you

Lol, tips from a guy with 1 game of Chess960 experience, and spouting a simple two line answer that is clearly incorrect if you'd played more. Perhaps do a bit of reading before providing advice.

To castle king side as white, the f1 bishop and g1 knight would have to move.

To castle queen side as white, the d1 rook would have to move.
