cc loves the kids...

baddy has recently been muted. twice. blueemu is now muted. no one knows why, but it seems crazy to mute either of these two. one is in his 70's and the other in his 60's. in other words, they occasionally indulge in adult conversation here. meanwhile, the most useless of topics, like the counting threads or the 'please post next' topics go on and on.

for example, many topics about covid have been locked. nevermind it has dominated our lives for two years. it seems kids can't keep up, so, they must be locked. one mod was so bold to say that those types of conversations need to be held in the unmoderated forums. please tell us which ones those are so we can go there to share our thoughts on things without people half our age telling us what to say.

the bots are another issue. for years now, many, MANY of us have shared the crazy experiences of being muted by the bots that seemed to be programmed by kids that try to put the square peg in the round hole.

finally, sharing disappointment with site actions has resulted in me being muted in the past and many topics on this are locked. instead of facing the issues, staff has locked many of those topics.

because they don't attract kids.

I was briefly muted for quoting a post that had profanity. I had used the same word nearly a year earlier.

These bots have memories.

Should I be immune because I'm in my 60s? I can cuss like a drunken sailor.

There was apparently a bug yesterday with the filters, that is now fixed, as far as I'm aware.

I verified @blueemu got hit by that and unmuted.

Just look at the world we live in, it's full of perils and sabotage and greed and we as people are the ones to blame. Can't help it look in the mirror we have to be better. People would rather live in comfort than face the facts. But the comfort will only lead to despair in the end. The truth is much better even though it's harder. It's roman Caesars world,

I can see that baddy is still muted. I have never know him to be in violation of the TOS, and to keep him muted for something he never did seems maniacal.

We get that the bots go haywire occasionally, but correction for the accounts muted unjustifiably should be done a little faster.

JoeLovesCoco

i know, and then many kids just go trolling around or acting their age so to put it and it just doesnt seem like good behavoir on a ste, online or in general really, and then you have them speaking up to older people, which isnt a problem in my opinion if its done in a reasonable, respectful or just done with common sense and dignity

If I can remember the way to spell the username, I'll check it out.

I actually got a 24 hour mute yesterday for making a post called rice’s advice booth and got the post removed for not following community guidelines so the bug explains it
AlCzervik

maybe they didn't like your advice.

(it's happened to me)

The bots have been an issue for much longer than 1 day

The filters are what they are. They catch a lot of casual abuse (when not otherwise bugged)

Where did this come from?

The Big Book of Bad Speeches?

miskit_mistake

or part of the typical pauline epistles?

Wolfbird

Paul's twin sister? There's nothing typical about her.

miskit_mistake
