Cheaters

I recently checked the history of one of my opponents and several of his previous competitors wrote that he was a cheater.  Just out of curiosity, how is it possible to cheat unless I guess you have someone better playing for you or helping you.  I did notice that he kept disconnecting and reconnecting, so maybe something to do with that?  Also, as a side note, why would you cheat anyway?

By using a chess engine to suggest moves. Continuously reconnecting will not be related in any way. You're not supposed to talk about cheating on the forums. If you believe somebody to be cheating you can report them and it may get looked into. Since you didn't even appear to know about chess engines I wouldn't go reporting anybody though...

I wouldn't worry about cheating at your level. If the person you're asking about is around your ratings, then the accusations are probably just people that can't handle losing. People use engines to cheat because they suck at chess and want to pretend to be good online because they know OTB they would get crushed by anyone with a little skill. Sometimes I wish I played chess at a 13-1400 level so I wouldn't have to worry about playing cheaters like the one I played last night.... 2000+ standard rating, 1000 blitz rating, 900 tactics rating and made tons of computer moves.... give me a freaking break.

You can cheat by typing the command "chesscheat -90 -60" in your command prompt. The computer plays for you.

And you can type "givememoretime -5" to get more time. This command gives you 5 seconds extra.

Sorry, I didn't realize.  I also didn't mean to accuse.  Thanks.
