Cheaters on chess.com

I'm sick of cheaters on chess.com. Now and then I get beaten by some guys 300 or more points below me, not taking advantage of my blunders but outplaying me tactically and strategically on my good day. Come on people, that really sucks and it's getting on my nerves. On playchess.com cheaters are constantly detected when using computer assistance and sanctioned by deleting his/her elo points but on this site - never. Someone should do something about it...

MapleDanish

Actually cheaters are banned every week (if not every day).

there is an engine detection on this site, it works well.

If you have a suspicion, use the 'report abuse' link at the bottom of all chess.com pages. (and keep in mind that maybe they just outplayed you :P).

Alright, that's all I have to say about that... oh and chess is like a box of chocolates... too much and you get fat!

I doubt very much anyone at your level is cheating. Wait till you break 2000 and then maybe you'll have something to complain about.

ravster

Hmm..i think the amount of players that cheat that have a rating 2200- is somenthing like 0.1%. Are you sure that he is cheating?

If you are, you might want to contact the staff.

"guys 300 or more points below me"

Yup, theres an infestation of 1000 rated cheaters Wink.

But a person can be rated 300 elo points below you and be better strategically.  I'm the best strategist in my chess club.  Unfortunally the players stronger then me are much stronger tacticians due to better usage of study time Cry.  Hey it makes me a good annotator though!

But my advice to you is to stop crying "CHEATERS" and start analyzing your games.

The guy is rated 1200...he probably hangs his queen 5 times a game and doesn't know it. Trust me, there are no engines below 2000...just lousy players (like me!).

I think cheaters should be publicly embarassed for all the world to know and their points deleted.

ericmittens

I think you need to stop taking internet chess so seriously.

Those last games you saw in my portfolio were 2 min. quick games that I don't play often. My peak in 10 and 15 min games vas over 1400 on several occasions and since I've been playin chess just over the year now, I consider this some kind of achievement with all my daily commitments. btw, I don't like your tone at all and I think you shouldn't encourage cheaters at any levels..

jootoo

it is not a good practice to report the cheater (?) at forum, you should report to chess.com directly.

I defeated some players 200-300 points higher than me once a while, and I lost  2-3 games to players 200 less than me, too,  nobody think we are the cheater.

the 1200 player are new member here, it does not means he/she is the beginner, maybe this player is on the way to growing the rating to her/his real level, say 2000-2200.

on the other hands, we could not suppose there are less cheaters among the players rating 2200-, some cheaters just make a few cheat at key moves of a game, and make cheat once a while - especially at the game vs lower rating player at loss position, or  at the game to a much higher player.

suggest to delete or lock this post.

hhere we go again... (another thread regarding cheaters...) really...if you are upset, you need to take your queries to Erik and Staff. Talking abt them here will not do help in anyway

"I think you shouldn't encourage cheaters at any levels.."

Listen -

They are NOT CHEATING.

One would have to be braindead to cheat and be stuck at a 1000 rating.  Its rediculous to think there is an infestation of 1000 rated cheaters.  Run one of their games through a chess engine, I guarantee you the moves will not match up.

Ha, ha , ha or lol whatever. I was referring to occasional cheaters man, not to professionals which reminds me: there was a rumour that a Canadian cheater Mr.X  beat Nigel Short couple of years ago and he was cheating so well that Short thought he was playing no other then late Bobby Fischer himself. Such talent...

I can't believe I am joining this thread... Why would you "occasionally" cheat? If you aren't cheating for the rating points then why?

annotator

Edit: Never mind, I'm not getting through to you, you have argued your way into a non-falsifyable entity that allows you to stroke your ego whenever you lose.

Is he cheating?  Yes

But he has a low rating?  He's only cheating occasionally

But his moves don't match up with a computer often? He's only cheating occasionally.

Could your opponent be having a good day?  No, he's cheating.

Could it be that you played poorly?  IMPOSSIBLE!  ITS THOSE OCCASIONAL CHEATERS!  I AM NOT AT FAULT!

Look, there is no conceivable reason why somebody would only cheat occasionally.  In fact, a person 300 elo points below you winning isn't impossible, its not even that rare.  Stop deluding yourself, study your games to see where you went wrong, and kick their ***es.  Your "he's occasionally cheating" excuse is just a variation of the "beginners luck" excuse.

As a newbie I hope no one is sad enough to try and cheat at this level (Or any level for that matter).  I am here to learn and improve (Which is easily done) my game and maybe make some friends.  It's not like money is on the line, if they are ever called on it will be obvious that they are not at the level you show.   So my newbie advice would be stop worrying and enjoy the games.  If you think someone is cheating move on to someone else.  I’m finding this just too much fun and want to thank all the folks out there that challenge me to a game, even if  lose.

That would be a reason to cheat.  In fact, it would be a reason to cheat CONSTANTLY, not OCCASIONALLY.

That was an alternative reason, however you would still have high rating points if you cheat so that you win

I think Erik did add some new computer detection system, but if he didn't.......
