CHEATING!!!!

You mean people like Carlsen?

To find out who cheated against you when you get that message from chess.com, just go to the list of your played games and see who was recently banned among your opponents.
While cheaters are annoying, they are a clear minority and hardly worth losing your sleep over unless you play competitive chess professionally.

yes. its unfortunate there are this many cheaters online...
Isn't even more annoying there are way more people playing fair? When you lose chances are you can't blame it on being cheated. What a bummer!

seems like if you've only been here two weeks, it shouldn't be that hard to discern which game(s) were the tainted ones.

Been a member for ~2 weeks and Ive received 2 ratings adjustments for playing against a cheater already. I guess it's a thing.
That sounds like a lot of cheating, encountering 2 cheaters in your first two weeks. Had you chosen a different way to frame the same situation, it would not have sounded as alarming. You have played 728 games so far (respect, btw) and have encountered 2 cheaters. That's 0.3% of games.
You can find the banned cheaters by scrolling through your completed games. They are displayed in batches of 50 games so it took me only 15 times clicking next to identify the players that cheated against you.

No. It's not American "democracy".
Ah, okay. Thx y'all for pointing me on how to search for it. I *wish* c.com would just make it simpler and link the game. I think I remember that 57 move draw game, and if it's the one Im thinking of, it was mine to win but I messed up 2 key moves.
(And yes, I did sign up 11yrs ago, but as you can see Ive only recently started playing in earnest -read; move far enough up the corporate ladder to spend money with less regard for it; gawd Im such a dick. Also, as my *wish* highlights, I am evaluating value-for-money as there are many areas the c.com platform could use quality of life improvements esp. for people who shell out for dimond).
Edit: I should add I primarily use my iPad. A lot of the features on the desktop version of c.com isnt inc in the app version, ie., seeing a closed game. It doesnt show in the game history. Again.... evaluating value-for-money, and Im running into a number of lack of features issues because I play on iPad.

What I find surprising is that if this person was using assistance that could beat Magnus, they somehow didn't manage to get past the 700-800 range in rapid. He might have tried out some browser plugin in his last game that got immediately detected, or maybe the Fair Play violation was about something else. Getting points reimbursed when an opponent got their account closed does not necessarily mean that the opponent cheated against you.

I am amazed that this forum as lasted as long as it has, usually they are stopped, I think only 30% are probably guilty as there are a degree of victims who don't cheat but are reported as cheats because they won a game on decent play against poor sports, the obvious answer is don't waste one's energy and play your game without listening to the players chat and leaving yourself open to abuse!?
I guess forums with many players telling others cheating is marginal keep open, and forums wich indicate obvious cheating are closed rapidly?

Okay... gotta assume in the infinite number of monkeys on infinite number of keyboards someone has already brought up the question, "when we get a note from Chess.com we played a game against a cheater, score adjusted, etc.. why wont Chess.com let us see the game?" I dont personally care who, so names can be removed to protect the virtue of the supposed "cheater". I just wanna review the game and how it played. For instance, what about when you play against someone cheating and WIN? That's certainly worth indulging in gratification. Wonder if C.com would share insight into how many times that happens.
Outside of competitive stakes games/tourney, me personally, dont care about playing against a person who's referring moves to an engine. In fact, if anything, *I should be* good enough (in my mind) to beat a person who uses assistance from a engine. And in that respect, having the option to watch the game in which my opponent cheated would be helpful.
Cant say I understand why people who play casually would cheat in online chess. Kinda defeats the purpose of playing the game. Like that's some serious insecurities and emptiness of self-worth issues.
