There's no cheating officially in (real) correspondence chess since using chess sotfware is allowed. If you mean at chess.com I don't know.
cheating more widespread in correspondence chess?

Well, title says it all: I'm wondering if it's statistically proven that there's more cheating in correspondence chess then in live chess. I think this is likely since in correspondence, due to the extremely long time controls, the "temptation" of cheating may be bigger. Any opinions?

I really wouldn't be able to tell.
I've ran some of my games through an engine just for fun, and turns out that when I've played some 5 day/move games, I've actually chosen the best move on some occasions.
But I honestly don't think that cheaters would play in correspondence.
At least I always link cheating to that fast, adrenaline rush craving stereotype.

Cheating is very human anyway. Many GM confess of cheating whenever they can.
Examples?
yes I meant chess.com turn-based games
Hmm, if these 2 are not the same, then may I ask where can we sign up to play correspondence chess then? I thought we were allowed to used computer software in turn based games on chess.com
Maybe chess.com should offer that. I would gladly sign up.

No wonder you're tigerprowl9 not tigerprowl1...
I won't cite GM names, opponent score sheet used with pencil, opponent goes to toilet, GM take score sheet, change moves, change board, opponent comes back, is confuse a bit, play resume, GM wins ... I got more of those. And yes the GM himself told me that story and many more.
Given that computer assistance is permitted in correspondence chess on this site, what sort of cheating are we referring to?
I'm playing right now a 1700 in 2 games, in one he made many 1700 like mistakes and I win easily, in the other all his move have the feeling of GM play and he's wining easily ...

Nobody who plays a GM can fail to remember the board position while they go to the toilet. You're talking nonsense.

It's not permitted here, that is cheating
Have you used computer assistance in games here?
I'm not talking non sense, it's a true story and it's not uncommon at all. It's not because you don't believe it that it means it doen't happen. I remember also one GM in desperate position could draw if opponent had one pawn on h file removed, opponent goes to toilet (again), GM takes the pawn, opponent comes back and is confused a bit, game is drawn.
