Platinum members have access to the complete openings and responses up to the middle game and can refer to them anytime ,this is not considered cheating even if it helps them deal with openings to their advantage, so why not allow everybody to do that?

I was not aware of this resource, I will be sure to use it though.

My answer to you is that you speak very very good English for an Italian! Even an educated one. We are not talking about perfect idiots then... I've been to Italy a few times, and believe me: this is not the English of the average Italian Wink

What I do feel is ok is when I am playing a much higher rated player and to even out the situation a bit using a computer/book to help you get out of the opening so you can play the middle game without a disadvantage.

Good thing you're not in the Italian team, or I'd get you kicked out in no time.

People like you are the reason why I no longer play online.

You have access to databases, and frankly, GMs play better openings that the engines.

So why use a computer ?

If you cannot see the point behind a move in the DB games, then this is a chess problem, not a memorization problem, and you should not be allowed to use a computer to avoid this.

Why not just play simple, little-memorisation openings...
Giuoco Piano?

To set the record straight I don't ALWAYS cheat or look up moves. But it is nice to have the option of looking up an opening (with a book or computer) that you are NOT familiar with in order to get to the mid game without a disadvantage. I don't have time (or enjoy) having to memorize loads of variations.

Hope that clears it up.

You not having time to learn openings is not your opponent's fault or problem. Why then must he be subjected to your Opening abuse which you think is fair.

Using books, databases or engines in Live Chess can get your account closed in no time. It's simply against the rules.
