Excellent video as always by Mr. Rensch.
Once I stop throwing 8 pieces away per game I'll start thinking about the concepts.

It's a tactile game with lots of strategerie.
See it wasn't that hard to come with a serious answer now was it.
Also some people seem to think I have troubles distinguishing tactics from strategics, which is not the case
Very strategetic game. With which the laws of strategy are tactics. Hopefully, the tactic gods will bless your strategies.
Ah gotcha, like strategic nuclear weapons are just the "threat" of mutually assured destruction, while tactical nuclear weapons would be used to pin, skewer, deflect and destroy enemy troops in the event of war?

The threat of mutually assured destruction has done more for world peace than peace activism ever could. An interesting commentary on the human dynamic.
Is an automobile designed to turn left, or to turn right?
Way to miss the comparison

So you're saying left? Because that's my thought as well.

Going right or left doesn't compare to something being strategical or tactical.
So I'm saying, your analogy doesn't stand.

The point is to go forward. Depending on the terrain, you're going to have to sometimes go left or right.
In my opinion, this is a very precise analogy.
Strategy, by definition is a long range plan that one attempts to execute based on an objective evaluation of a given situation in order to achieve an advantage of some point. Tactics, are means to achieve your strategical aims.
An example of this could be as simple as the Smothered Mate:
Placing a Knight on f7 while Black has a Rook on g8 and King on h8 with unmoved pawns is the strategy. So if say White plays 1. Nf7+ Kg8 2. Nh6++ (the queen is say on c4) Kh8 3. Qg8+ Rxg8 and 4 Nf7 mate, White has incorporated the double and discovered check, weak defending piece, decoy and weakened back rank motifs in order to accomplish mating Black. All these are tactical objectives. The two work hand in hand.
A good book would be "Chess Pocketbook Training Course" by Lev Alburt. It has helped me understand tactics and in OTB games, I have gotten wins against strong blitz and standard player in recent weeks, including a draw against a USCF Life Master a few days ago.
In short:
Tactics are short-term
Strategy is long-term
Both are needed in chess.
