chess and alcohol

I've recently switched to Scotch--J&B. Luv'n every sip, in moderation, of course....

Never mixed a game with alcohol. That would be a cocktail best left to those who think it makes them see "clearer".

Yes, loads of times. I've played chess on here when I couldn't even think straight, sometimes you play brilliantly, sometimes you play crap. It's enjoyable though. :)

Joseph Henry Blackburne drank whiskey during his over-the-board play because he felt it cleared his brain and improved his chessplay: "Whiskey stimulates the imagination...." (I assume moderation is implied here). I find the same to be true in my experience, sipping on a Jameson, neat: my head is cleared, my body relaxed. Anyone else here able to mix chess and alcohol (whiskey, vodka, rum....) and still give a decent, if not winning, performance?
