Chess and Xanax

It is legally forbidden to drive while taking xanax, but many people have to I imagine. If you have an incident and it is discovered, you are in a lot of trouble. Deserved or undeserved, it is a risk to evaluate.

Can you qualify that statement with a country? Are we talking Germany, or everywhere? Genuinely interested...

USA for sure, I believe, in all states.

Fburton : in belgium it is forbidden. You would have to check every country individually. Next to the country legislation, there are also the terms in your insurance contract.

Well that's cool, Brons... Here in the USA you can drive under the influence or drugs or alcohol legally, just as long as you aren't "impaired" (which is a subjective evaluation made on a case by case basis).  Did you know that in Florida anyway, you can even have loaded firearms in your car as long as they are in the glovebox or the trunk?  It's true.  In many ways, except for things of a sexual or racial nature, the US is a lot more "wild" than Europe, I think.

I've read that in Scandinavia for instance that one is not allowed to drive even with any trace amount of alcohol in one's system.  On a side note, here in the US it is per se illegal to drive with over a certain amount of levels of alcohol in one's system (usually 0.1%) but thats only proven through something called the "Breathalyzer," which is still optional for the suspected drunk driver.  So it's common knowledge here that if you get pulled over for drinking & driving that you should decline to take the breathalyzer because the results may not help your case haha.

Well John, I believe then that in this case your legislation is better because in practice the people that are on this medication have to drive for their jobs etc..and most probably they will not be impaired. If i lived in the states, I would also put a loaded firearm in my car. Over here they have been able to keep firearms out of the streets, so we normally do not need them. A baseball bat in the car normally does the job.

Maybe some other day.

stress is vital for playing good chess. Whenever i play with little fear of losing or even not particularly motivated to win, my quality of play takes quite a downturn. Xanax cannot be any good for your chess.

What's probably good is things to get you wired like modafinil. Nootropics may also help but require some experimentation to get the type and quantity right for your own needs
