Chess based MMO

I like Chess and MMOs so it got me thinking how could they be combined. I few ideas I had were:

  Use standard pieces and moves

  Really big  board

  1 move per time period

A system where "points" could be exchanged for more pieces

Earn points by occupying certain squares

So I'm interested as to what anybody else thinks... Do you have any suggestions? Can you see any gameplay problems? Would you play it?

Chess is already an MMO. Here we are!

If you mean combine it with MMORPG, then just have a tavern or someplace where your avatar sits, drinks, then gets a game of chess going with the Horde, where the view switches to chess mode. It can be a friendly game, but it still would work better on a PvP server IMNSHO.

Lol Duck, I was thinking one of those persistant world MMO strategey games similar to those which are often advertised here, not so much an RPG.

It's your lucky day!  It took me about half a year, but I actually made this game a while back.  It's even practically the same rules.

  1. Standard moves (except pawns move 4 directions)
  2. A player can only move once per 10 seconds
  3. The player gets points by capturing other pieces or by not moving for 10 seconds
  4. Points are spent to create more pieces

It's called King's Conflict and runs on Android, but I'd be up for making a desktop version if people were interested.

Oh cool, I'll check it out.
