 I used to play chess in Derry more than 30 years ago. Chess is still going strong in Belfast. I'd be surprised if there was nothing going on in Derry at all. This post in facebook is 2 years old: New members (of all skill levels) are always welcome at the club. The main club meetings are held on Tuesday evenings at 7.30pm in the Verbal Arts Centre. Beginner sessions are held on Fridays at 6.30pm in the Pilots Row Community Centre. Please contact Allan at (028) 71312860 for further details.

Just letting you know we have folks meeting up for chess at the library in Limavady. Wednesday after school for kids, two pm til eight on a Friday for adults. The club is still going in Derry..
