chess.com is polluted with no skilled flaggers

Getting flagged means your opponent played smarter than you did.

I appreciate that some people are taking against flagging as well.

I think it's especially disheartening when you've worked on a game in an artistic way and it gets destroyed, and the opponent isn't working to progress their own position, simply to win on time. It also effects your later performance, because it's hard to put in that same level of effort into following games, and then you tilt.

I hate it when i choose to play games with a particular time limit and then i'm held to said time limit.  Not fair!  Fake games!  Sad!

So the complaint is that he should have been allowed to use more thinking time than alloted for the game?  Yeah, and I should be able to drive across the USA on a gallon (3.8 liters) of gasoline!  The roads are polluted with gas guzzling motors!

Except 1 minute is no longer the fastest time control here - you can now play 30 seconds or even 10 seconds if you wanted to....

Stop playing dude.

I think what the OP issue (and others, me) is that at some point, some players, don't really care on the structure of the game all they do is move peaces faster then you resulting with loss on "time" while in better position. Although I would agree with last post it's kind of sad that being the bottom line excuse.

CheesyPuns

dont play bullet then lol

Why does anyone play bullet?
BigManArkhangelsk

There is only one way to stop the flaggers.

1. Why not?

2. Because they can.

3. It's fun.

4. Quick way to get a game in. Some people don't have time to play longer time controls.

Time is a resource in Chess. The more time you allot to making a move, the more you're able to calculate whether or not it's a good move. The better the move you will make.

Flagging is making the same resource that you have. If he's playing too fast to play reasonable, you either make the choice to calculate the punishment and then quickly win the won position, or you make the decision to play faster than you can reasonable and simply outplay him at equal speed.

When I play OTB, my tournaments are 55 minutes a person with 5 second delay. If I had that type of time to think in a 10 minute game, I'd have substantially less inaccuracies.

Every move you make is an exchange of that resource. It's how far you're willing to calculate right now vs how much time you have left in the game to do it.

My last OTB game, with those time settings, I ended with 7 minutes left on my clock and 34 minutes on his clock. It was an end game battle, which I didn't have experience with. He kept offering draws, but I felt I had an advantage. He decided to try to flag me. 8 moves of flagging later, he blundered, and I won shortly after.

It's resource management.

I find people who gripe about getting flagged are the same people who will play the lamest moves in hopes of flagging the other guy.

Chess is turn based game.  If you continually get flagged, you need to move faster or play slower time controls.

HobbyPIayer

Getting flagged means you let your own clock run down to zero. That's all there is to it.

Blaming the opponent for that is absurd. It's akin to saying, "I used up all of my clock! That means my opponent is a jerk!"

WAH!  I ran out of time!
