Chess. com Server Lag

"Your move dint get to the server in time, i dont see this on [Do not advertise other chess sites - Mod.], at my time = 2.00 i make a move, my opponents time begins countdown, after some seconds i see that i av lost the time that my opponents time lost,

They are definitely cheating against you, if you cover your computer with tin foil it won't happen again.

Well server lag is a serious issue here. You can lose easily 30 seconds in a 3 minute game despite having a flawless connection. I don't think that the current method of timing is the good one. Every move should have a timestamp to the universal internet time which is synchronised. The receiving party needs to confirm the move and add a 2nd timestamp. The difference is the lag. If one party tries to cheat by interupting the connection this would be visible in increased lag. So the server could grant the same amount of extra time to the 2nd party. It would increase the total playtime but no one would lose because of server lag.

Funny that much more data intensive games like first person shooters work with 20-50 ms delay and a chess game is not able to manage even seconds. This is like 100x higher!

This is a free service. Why don't you pay for a room of servers and start your own site.

this is just an old school rant. but ofc there are two easy answers
Time controls Big enough that a little bit of lag doesn't make a difference.
Play OTB.
now, don't let the obvious distract you. Really let Chess.com know how you Feel!

Quake live was also free but worked and still works (for a one time fee of 10USD) with low lag. And by the way this isn't a free service: you got annoying ads and limited possibilities unless you pay for a subscription.

Even CNN has a delay when the're talking to a reporter half way around the world.
Man, that is a video stream. Loads of data probably going to space and back. The moves of an entire chess game are far far less data than a single frame of the CNN video of which you got 25 every second. That is why the lag here is a joke. There is like no data to transfer.

unlike chess24, i dont get losses in time like this, i can easily monitor my time control over at chess24, the only reason i find myself still playing on chess.com's cos of the members and tournaments as well as friends
