chess .com vs lichess

Most serious players use Lichess unless they're sponsored. Lichess is better for reasons such as better/quicker analysis, free puzzles and the studying resources. The only upside to chess.com is it's chess learning videos, rating system, and the bots to play against. But you can't beat free and if you're 2000+ Lichess is clearly the better site.

I have a feeling this thread is going to be deleted soon.

Chess.com coz lichess is cheap and rely on donations, meaning they can't buy proper cheat detecting. So when one of my friends reported me as a joke because I kept winning against him, and the next day I saw my account has been closed for 'cheating'. I message them and asked them why, but they replied in a week saying they are correct and this conversation is now over. That is why I hate lichess. Also, you have to prove you're not a bot for every comment you make, you can't invite people to clubs, and I would write way more but unfortunately I don't have the time. People might like lichess of chess.com because of the memberships but It's worth the money with the daily puzzles, tactics, lessons, videos, clubs, and more.

no lichess is a app for chess players but chess.com is a app for money and btw cheat detection is AMAZING so probably ur saying because u cheated or u lied

lmao someone's mad because they'd rather spam 100 tactics a day and have the latest stockfish 14.2 in their browser to find a move their 1300 opponent didnt see 50 moves deep and doesn't know how to actually analyze

Lichess has over inflated ratings and they beg for donations like Wikipedia. Plus it doesn't feel as rewarding getting wins over there since the player pool is much smaller.

It's for the most part just a number and I've never seen them beg for donations the way Wiki does. Also, I have no problems finding a game on the site and there have options to accept challenges from players in a pool.

One thing that Lichess absolutely has over chess.com is their opening explorer which they not only have for free, but they allow you to see what players in a certain rating level play and I like how the engine shows you the "best moves" on the board which chess.com and ChessBase do not do. This is how new opening traps are discovered and how you can learn new openings

There are less things that you can do on lichess. Even on normal mode for chess.com you can do puzzlerush, 1 lesson a week and be able to see grandmasters games live. Chess.com is better

Chess.com is nice but it would be the best if It can offer unlimited puzzles and analysis with no membership. Lichess has inaccurate ratings but I like the fact that they are completely free. lichess does not offer nearly as much as chess.com but I wish chess.com is much cheaper or if it is going to be a million times better than the second best website for online chess.

Did you even look at Lichess at all? You can watch top level games live here. You can play Puzzle Storm which is puzzle rush except it deducts time for every wrong puzzle instead of three strikes. The lessons on chess.com are ok but I do like the Sacrifice Series by Keti which I was able to use those videos and put them into a chess study here. All of it is organized and easy to share. For lessons, just watch Chess Coach Andras or Chess Geek. On top of that, Lichess studies are so much better than chess.com. You can use the database to look at Master Games, Lichess games, and any player's games to learn different openings, prepare against certain opponents, and discover common opening traps. Just check out my Semi-Slav study, Queen's Gambit study, and my 1.b3 Refutation. If you want any help with opening prep, feel free to DM with any questions.

did lichess pay you to write this? It sounds more like an advertisement than a comparison between sites.

I've been on CC for only 2 days and just moved from Lichess, I prefer CC.

wonder if thibault and erik could arrange a 1000 board match to see which site has the best chess  , but prohibit use of database and engine , as thats too much of an outside help and will skew the result

I personally prefer Chess.com as although L*chess' website is definitely cleaner, it's a bit too stripped back for my liking; it looks like a website from the 90's. I also find the rating system on this website to be much more refined for beginners instead of just dropping every new account in with the 1500 rated players which makes the elo for beginners on L*chess much more inflated. I do find, however, that L*chess tends to get more accurate in terms of elo when you get to the titled players.

Despite having the worse UI (In my opinion) and a less accurate elo system for beginner players like me, I might move to L*chess in the future as the management of this has made some decisions that I and I'm sure many others disagree with, such as the integration of NFTs. This is tolerable at the moment, but I certainly hope it stops there.

cc goes through alot of changes , and each change alienates some , you are right about lichess rating btw , it is inflated , there i was easily 200 points higher in grade , playing the same as i do here ,
