Chess Experience With Psilocybin Mushrooms

So last night my friend and me decided to take some psilocybin mushrooms. Now before I continue, please take this post seriously and refrain from any anti-drug rants. Mid-trip, I decided to play a game of chess, which turned into about 4 or 5 games. I had total mental clearity during my games, I was catching things I normally wouldn't see.

Then I ended up facing an opponent with a substantially higher rating than me(750 against a 900). Normally I would get destroyed, but I finished the game victorious. Yes, this could just be poor moves on my opponents behalf but I found it astonishing that it seemed I was playing better than usual(won all my games). You can see the game below followed by the other games I played while under the influence of mushrooms.

Had anybody else experienced something similar to this?

You are awesome

It could be a psychosomatic response where increased dopamine initiated a state of euphoria. In a sense you felt good and this reflected on your play. You allowed yourself to lower your inhibitions and explore more creative and less inhibited thinking in your games. The problem is that the effects of the substance are diminishing. Like any other drug your brain adapts to the substance. The substance then creates a diminishing amount of euphoria. Meaning the high isn't ever as good as the first time. Honestly, I don't at all think drugs will increase play. They do impair judgement and make you less inhibited, but they have nothing to do with increased calculating ability.

there are some legal drugs prescribed to Alzheimer's patients and dementia that increase clarity, but it never increases a normal brain beyond what it's capable.

It may be possible that my ability to play was increased temporarily. However, it seems like I'm still playing just as good. My rating has increased by about 80 and doesn't seem to be dropping. I will test this out and get back to you on whether or not I am still playing just as well.

While no chess I tried Salvia once and was slightly disappointed.  I felt like I was made of wood and really tall, I walked back and forth the hallway, walked outside, and when I went back inside I saw abunch of colors folding in on each other, and I felt the folding.  I did some dishes and noticed the reflection off the faucet was brighter.

I smoke up most everytime I play or do tactics.. now I can't tell if I'm smoking to much weed or playing to much

Being a member of the old hippie union myself I too have had a few experiances along these lines.  But it's important to understand that the influence of any drugs upon the brain, whether it caffien or THC, Peyote or Shrooms, their effects are little more than false promises.  Grass used to make me think I was insanely creative while I was high, but the next day when I saw what I had created, I realized I'd be better off waiting for true inspiration!  And as for Shrooms...well all I knew is that I laughed a lot when I got checkmated! <g>  Nothing can replace natural thought processes and hard work!

I am by no means an anti....did LSD and shrooms in the late 1970's and 80's cause I thought it would help my guitar playing. At the time it was fun but really did little for my creativity...wow did i trip.....twenty years later I had severe flashbacks that landed me in the state mental hospital for two and a half years.Even if it would make me king of the chessworld I would not do it again. Grass yes....much safer....

How much did take and what kind of flashbacks did you have?

swetye

Only did LSD three times...I believe three times with shrooms also...Not much really but it was very powerful.....Flashbacks were like the trips except with extreme paranoia....could not sleep for days....ended up in a lot of trouble....extremely scary. Most probably do not have this happen to them....but it happened to me.Now I am disabled although I am basically OK......

Never tried LSD, never tried shrooms, but I know I'm more creative and endurant (I lose concentration really fast) during my games after having lit up my hemp pipe.
