Chess Art Gallery

I know some have claimed that chess is an art form, I disagree, while it can be played artfully, chess as a medium for creating art comes up short.

Certainly there are artists who use wood or other materials as a medium to create chess pieces, each piece being a scupture, a piece of art in its own right. This is, of course, is quite different than the game itself.

This thread was created to serve as a collection, a gallery of art that represents the game we love. A gallery of chess art, represented in paintings, sculpture, even in the pieces themselves..

Please share your favorites, those you find beautiful, artistically pleasing, even controversial.

Enjoy the gallery.
