chess in prison - where I am going

Well folks, I have recently been convicted of a crime. Tomorrow is my sentencing. It will be a minimum of 10 years in prison.

To be honest, I am a bit nervous. Not so much about dropping the soup, but whether or not I will get to play chess!

Does anyone know anything about chess in prison? Will I be playing chess? I might ask the prison warden if I can have a chess set in m cell, along with a few chess books, and possibly an Internet connection. I will let you know how it goes. Anyone here have experiences with chess in prison?

Well, wish me luck as I face the judge tomorrow.

I forget but I swear I've seen this exact thread before.  It got a number of responces too!

What were you accused of doing? I know you didn't do it, but I'm just curious.

You're not crazy.  I remember someone made a thread like this.

Wolfbird

Read post #3 which provides a link to the thread.

edit: there's a different thread besides the one mentioned that I think was the same as this one.

note to troll: too soon to recycle thread ideas. Give it a couple more years before everyone forgets.

I confirm that I read this exact posting a while back too!

Don't forget to ask for a chess coach.

Just an update. I was sentenced to 15 years in prison early this morning. I just arrived at my new home around noon.

In regards to the chess, I managed to convince the warden about letting me have a chess set, some books, and an internet connection. To my amazement, he agreed and accomodated my requests :).

Now the next step is to play some games with the other inmates here. Wish me luck!

I was just convicted and sentenced, and you are worried about duplicate posts? If someone else was in the same situation as me, not my problem.

He was accused of being a terrible chess troll. The evidence was damning.

He was convicted by a hung jurySurprised   And now he's gonna be hung by a convicted juryWink

I even remember a very good advice: give always rematchs and never take en passant.

He was known as the "checkmate bandit". He'd leave a chess piece at every bank he robbed. FBI patzers couldn't put the clues together.

Prisoner access to the internet? Like for a 15 year sentence?

Tell me about the prison golf course.

I asked the warden for a box of chocolate bon-bons and a near-mint condition copy of Fantastic Four #1. To my amazement, he agreed and accomodated my requests!
