Chess in "Welcome to the Classroom of the Elite" (an anime)

How do you know rook is on e1? In the scene it doesn't really show the full piece at all
It must be for the checkmate to work - the bishop has to be pinned otherwise this isn't a checkmate and the queen can be taken.

screenwriters could have literally just googled a pdf of a chess book and found an example game to follow but nooooooo

a8 is dark square?
As explained I flipped the colours otherwise the board really wouldn't make sense

The Elite S3 Ep3 classroom was aired a few days ago.
My friend and I did a quick analysis

Here we see a game played out from a book in classroom of the elite. The chess here is moderately accurate for an anime, with just a few mistakes. I suppose it would be passable for a novice game, but she's reading an example out of a chess book, so you would expect the play to be somewhat decent. Black's position is also incredibly terrible. I don't understand why black moved the rook to c1, yet didn't castle queenside. I suppose this could be due to white taking a large amount of kingside pawns, whilst dealing checks to the black king and forcing it to move.
Another problem is that it seems as if the queen had started on e5 (in the scene, it appears to have no velocity until that point). This could just be because the beginning of the move wasn't shown, but in the anime it looks weird (only if played frame by frame). Obviously this square would be weird unless there was an exchange of pieces from the rook on f5. I put the queen to d4 so that this move would make slightly more sense.
The only way this rook can be explained is if there was a piece exchange on f5. Then again, even if there was an exchange, black should obviously take with the bishop. This is so that black can win / not lose an exchange, and more importantly to avoid checkmate.
Unfortunately, you cannot see the bottom right of the board, so white may have an extra rook or knight that I didn't include. This is likely, as the material before this scene began is quite unbalanced. On the other hand, these pieces may have been sacrificed for a strong kingside attack.
