The "wild west" had plenty of regulations. Why do you suppose that there is a sheriff in every western movie?
chess is haram and yet this site is as unregulated as an online casino

Yes. But we don't have sheriffs on this site. We just have @Martin_Stahl--more of a Barney Fife!
is this what a troll person does ?? the kind of bait they want to engage in -- how is this like a poker site ??? that needs regulation-- come on folks be sensible in the forums

Also why do the tournament organizers let Nodirbek Yakubboev play knowing he's islamic? This tournament is 100% haram as there is prize money involved AND the games take hours which is considered way too long for chess in islam.

Will make the obvious point here that chess is a game of skill. Casino games are games of chance. In my country, at least, tournaments and cash prizes involving games of skill have never been subject to being regulated as gambling,

Nordibek Yakubboev doesn’t think it is haram. Why would the tournament organizers enforce someone’s religion? That isn’t their responsibility, nor should it be. And idk why prizes or game length would have anything to do with it being haram. It isn't gambling, since it doesn't involve a risk of financial loss.

it still takes time and money to go to these tournaments. it is 100% gambling under the eyes of islam. it is also considered a waste of time to spend this much time on chess.

I suspect the site owners go to great lengths to ensure chess is never classified as gambling because if it was it would prevent millions of members from accessing it on networks that block gambling sites such as college and commercial LANs or from US states where online gambling is illegal which I think is pretty much all of them.
There could be some benefits to locking down members location by IP instead of allowing them to choose location which gambling sites do as it would give a more accurate picture of which countries are the biggest culprits for dishonest play and it might act as a deterrent if the person knows there is a risk of it being traced back to their login credentials and they could be in trouble with their school/college/employer if chess.com report a ToS violation to the ISP webmaster.
