Chess Kinda SUCKS

What was the point of that ?
Garry Kasparov is the example.Since he fail to make an impression in other aspect of life i.e in politics other than chess.

Is it just me, or does chess kinda suck. I mean, I think that it is all luck and whoever goes first wins. The person who wins is by no means the smartest, and anyone with an IQ above 5 can memorize the moves required to win. Honestly, if you waste your time playing chess to feel smart, you are as dumb as a rock. Go play a real sport, or at least a game that requires more than one brain cell.

I agree Yianniww.
Anyway, based on studies, Chess is very good for your brain. It increases the size of logic centers and calculating centers in the brain. Exponentially. They have found chess improves many aspects of life such as mathematics, and language learning. Academically, Chess is considered amazing. If you tell your college you're applying at that you're say 1800 USCF, and they look that up or know what it means, they'll be far more likely to give you a scholarship because you're patient and smart based on the chess. It also has many other aspects in life. You can use the same calculation train of "if I do this what will happen" to make decisions.

He's made an impression in politics alright.

If chess Kinda SUCKS then why do you have an account on Chess.com?
Because there are so many other things you can do here, some of which are actually fun.

All games have their flaws. To me the biggest flaw of chess is that against a skilled player once you are behind in material, everything else being equal they just trade you down to the end game where they win after forcing a promotion. Games that have referees or judging are subjective and can be manipulated. etc. Overall chess is a great game, but still a game not something you want to let consume you.

Play Tic Tac Toe, now that is a game for the real smart people like you.

lol

Chess doesn't suck. Whoever goes first doesn't win. Chess needs thinking, not luck. Your argument is junk since chess helps with so many things. Chess has been around so long, around 1,5000 years. If it sucks, why do people still play it? Chess requires more than one brain cell. Everything does. People can get better memory by playing chess, better strategy, etc. And for every lousy attack like the Scholar's Mate there is a defense. There is no such thing as the "moves to win" If there was, chess would be a pointless game. And you cannot memorize every move.
If it is so luck based why don't we have random champions instead of the usual suspects, like Carlsen, Nakamura, Caruana etc? However I do think there is a lot of memorization involved. It seems like a big part of chess is in recognizing when your position is similar to that of various games played in the past by other grandmasters. Which explains why, the very best players like Carlsen can play against 10 people while blindfolded. They just have this incredible spatial memory that allows them to calculate what will happen 7-8 moves down the line without any errors.
But that's where I think you're wrong, because at some point you can't keep calculating. There are way too many possibilities, the human brain doesn't have the strength to keep going like a computer. So you have to do your best to try to out-think your opponent, to try to cover all the bases and come out with an advantage. I'm not a real chess player anyway I just play tactics, but that's my two cents
