Hi I really feel for you. The pulls and the dopamine hit are seductive. I've set a rule that I won't play more than twice in a row without a break of at least an hour. Perhaps you could find a simple rule that you can live by and that gives you enough of a pause to bring you better health. Be well my friend.
Hello there, I'm a high school student who is obsessed with chess and plays it almost on a daily basis, I've recognized this obsession I have when I was beginning to crave more time just to analyze chess, play chess puzzles and play chess games, the sources of my cravings are mostly because of my losses and because chess is really popular in our school that anywhere I go inside the establishment I'd see two students over a chessboard, it was driving me to play more and develop my skill more.
In fact I would even play chess for straight up an hour or more despite the fact that I am already exhausted from school due to overwhelming homeworks or school research and activities, or when I lack sleep because of my mind constantly visualizing chess like playing an entire game against myself.
This obsession I have with chess is already taking a toll on my mental health and physical health, my brain fog won't go away as a result of always playing chess even if my mind and body is already exhausted, as my cravings were far superior than what my body needs (rest).
So I am looking for ways or advices to overcome this obsession I have with chess, it's really a bad situation that I have right now, thanks.
(NOTE: I don't play on this website very often, I mostly do physical chess and not online.)
